Thanks for your comments Silvia. It does sound like your experience was less than stellar, both with your meal as well as service. A disappointment for your group, I'm sure. I have not been back since I wrote this blog, so it's hard to know if your experience is the norm lately. It's always good to hear others' opinions! Thanks again for sharing yours!

Wow! We had a very different experience there. A couple of weeks ago, 4 of us went for dinner. We all have eaten lots of comida cubana and love it so we were really excite. Unfortunately, we all swore we will not return. First off the mojitos were really weak. I am not much of a drinker but even I couldn't taste the rum. Also a good mojito is not so sugary. When we called this to the attn of the waitress she swore she saw the bartender pour the "normal" amount into each glass. After lots of back and forth she finally asked the manager if she could have the bartender add more rum and he told her "Por su puesto!" Then came the food. My husband ordered masitas de puerco (fried pork chunks). What he got at La Bodeguita were rock hard and dry, not crispy on the outside and juicy tender on the inside like he used to get in Miami. Our friends both ordered the chicken specialty that is billed as refillable, eat as much as you can. They only asked for more platanos but were told that was not included in the items you could have more of. They asked where this was stated on the menu and when the waitress couldn't come up with an answer another waiter brought more. This was after a half hour wait. I ordered the fish fillet al mojo de ajo (garlic) but it was super bland. When I asked for a got extra sauce I understood why. They don't use fresh garlic but the pre chopped stufff that comes in a jar. All through the dinner the waitress kept making excuses for the food and drinks and to get any replacements was like asking for the moon. We all really wanted to like this place but we're sadly disappointed. The ambiance is great. The music so so; I guess if you don't know Cuban music you'd think it's great. I think this place depends on tourists and not locals who might want to return.

I'm an American having a bocce tournament at my wedding in Mexico but I'm having a hard time finding a place to buy the bocce balls in Mexico! I will be in the Mexico City area. Can you tell me where you were able to find yours?

Hi there!

Looks like this tournament was a lot of fun. Beach bocce is just about the perfect game, in my opinion. For a pretty amazing and colorful set, check out beachbocceball.com.

Happy Rolling!
