About
Latido de Mexico
Latido de Mexico was started in 2005 and during this time we’ve have met many amazing clients and friends in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya through the years.
We are often asked what we are doing…what’s happening in Playa…what is the recipe for…so we wanted a way to keep people on top of what is happening in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya like current events, restaurant and bar reviews, new openings (and closings), cool tours a maybe the odd recipe or two. We are avid travelers who love nice places to stay; good food and wine and almost above all else GREAT service. We are always excited to find out there is a new great restaurant, beach or even a simple ingredient to cook with! This “research” is taken very seriously so we can pass on our findings, like who makes the best margaritas, to you.
Monica Hartlief, originally from Amsterdam, Monica chose the sunny skies of Mexico in 1999. Or more accurately she chose the the warm Caribbean waters as she pursued a career as a recreational dive instructor. She completed her PADI OWSI in 1999, and is now an accomplished diver with the highest level of training as a PADI Course Director. Prior to moving to Mexico, Monica worked as a project manager and consultant for various ICT and telecommunications companies in the Netherlands. But all of our life experiences prepare us for the next adventure, and with her professional experience in project management and consulting work, Monica has great attention to detail as well as a keen knowledge of the area and community. With her focus on detail and organization she was the natural fit to run the property management and vacation rental side of things for Latido de Mexico, and being fluent in 3 languages only adds to her expertise.

Tyra enjoys gardening, cooking and entertaining and appreciates the beautiful beaches and the vibrant culture and natural resources of this region. Tyra also devote her time to support her adopted community as a member of the 2010 and 2011 Taste of Playa Executive Planning Committee.
